We are thinking of relocating to Viera and wanted some feedback. We are a family of 4 looking for a good family environment. Good neighborhoods, good schools, which I have heard you had to be careful with, safety etc. We are from NY and want to be able to fit in. My husband was relocated to southern VA for 4 years and it was awful fitting in. The people were nice enough, but it was hard keeping conversations, getting each others sense of humors. I'm not trying to offend, so please don't take it that way. I just dont' want to move "south" again and find us looking like fish out of water. Any input would be great! Thanks

quikmove viera is very nice. alot of people around here seem to be from NY and NJ. there are alot of homes for sale and places for rent. Viera area dosent really have a southern feel to it. It is more a florida appeal. Many people here do speak spanish it seems like. Viera is a very nice upscale area it has really grown alot. When are you looking to move? I lve in rockledge and viera is a couple of minutes down the street. Do you have any other questions?

thanks for responding. the spanish doesn't bother me, i enjoy other cultures. being from NY its one of the perks as long as it doesn't run down the areas. we are looking to move this coming spring so just getting a jump start on things. how are the schools? i will have one thats will be going into 6th grade and the other into 2nd. so that is vital to us, good education and safety!! do the areas or surrounding areas that will be sharing the schools have a gang problem? what about things to do for families, kids. restaurants, theatres, shopping?? how are the summers really? hurricanes, insurance.. well you asked if i had any other questions. LOL thanks alot!

I have not heard of any gang problems in rockledge or viera area. The area is pretty safe. Once in a while somebody will get bugarlized but pretty much not much crime in the area to speak of.

The schools are in brevard are some of the best in the state. some schools are not accepting more students. You should check the brevard school website for info on that. There is many places to eat and shop in viera the new shopping center is very nice. There is a theater there as well. Insurance in rockledge is better than merritt island and the beaches. something like 3-4 thousand a year.

Hi Quikmove- Good luck on the move. HAve you been to Viera yet? We are going in a couple weeks to check out a few places, and Vieras is on the list. Florida is filled with Northerners, so I think you will fit in great. I came from Ft. LAuderdale, then relocated to NJ. (too fast and alot of bad language from the soccer moms in front of the kids), then we relocated to Eastern NC, and we love it here, but the job calls for another move to Central Florida. We are very excited, and can not wait. Just wish I could sell my house and move before school starts. Other languages do not bother me unless they expect me to speak theirs and do not learn ours.

We have, been there a few times now. It is beautiful and people were very friendly that we met. Its funny though its seems like it is all dolled up there and then you drive out of the area and its quite different. They have a great zoo right there too. We definitely liked it, I'm just putting feelers out there on living there and not just a vacation. Good luck. Let me know what you think.

No we haven't really decided on FL yet. We are also looking into Sayville in Long Island. We need to move by this coming spring. When are you being transferred there? I almost wish for something like that, it would make life easier. When are you going?

My husbands company is being very accommodating to the move because of the houseing market. We will move when ever the house sells. I hope for a fast sale so we can start the kids in Florida in August 2008. That is the part I can not stand, the wait! I am looking forward to not paying tuition for my kids because they will go to public school. We are actually pretty excited to live close to the beach again and go down to Ft. Lauderdale and visit with friends and family again. It has been 6 years since we left. I say come to Viera with me.
