If my husband accepts a job offer in Melbourne, we'll be moving to Florida with our two young children. We are looking at beachside homes for a lot of reasons--good schools being number-one.

I've read Satellite Beach is great for families, but I haven't seen much about Indian Harbour. Is there much of a difference between the two? What about Indialantic?

I'd really appreciate any input on the differences--if any--between Satellite Beach and other cities on the island, especially Indian Harbour.

Thanks!

No difference at all, all nice areas. you can't even tell a difference when you go from one to the other. I love that area of Florida.

Very nice areas, but the location is very heavily populated. Lots of tourist and a primary location for snowbirds....

All very nice areas with Sat Bach priding itself on thorough law enforcement. They had 2 cops die by DUI and they are still militant about anybody passing thru too fast or too swervy. Not a bad thing.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. If hubby takes the job we'll be flying out to check out the area and look at houses. I'm just trying to narrow it down before we get there. Of course, focusing on good schools helps to narrow things down as well!

Cheers!

Hi Deb,

We are also interested in those areas... check under my name for 2 posts I have with plenty of feedback.

We are interested in Melbourne and surrounding areas,,, as in the barrier islands.. but also further down to Vero Beach and possibly as well... Martin Cty.

Any reason you picked Satellite, Indian Harbour ??

Concern for barrier islands of course are the hurricaines,,,, meaning high home owners insurance

We would have no problem living a little inland.. but the barrier islands catches us.

What caught you as opposed to the other areas... melbourne, viera etc. ?

Thanks and Great Luck

Michael
