I was just in cocoa beach June 2012. There are NO signs that say no dogs allowed so even if the police came to say something I would argue that there are NO signs so how would I know? I took my dog swimming in the beach at 6pm. He has a life vest and I had him off leash for over an hour. No one complained! Actually he was a big hit to joggers and a crowd formed to watch my dog swimming out to get his ball. The fact that someone is saying the beach will be contaminated if your dog decides to go to the bathroom cracks me up. Do you know how many animals and also people go to the bathroom in the ocean!!?? It's not like someone will be eating the sand after your dog takes a crap!! People just complain about anything anymore. Get over it. Life is too short to worry about dogs swimming in the water. I'm sure plenty of 2 year old running around on the beach with a diaper had a few turds fall out every now and then. It's not the end of the world!!

Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach is not dog-friendly, despite that there are several hotels that take dogs! I have two beautiful dogs, a miniature schnauzer and a border-collie. Because one is considered small and the other medium, respectively, I've had the hardest time taking them to dog parks. I can't put the medium dog in the small-dog pen, so I've put the small-dog in the larger pen--they cannot be separated and nor should they be.

Inevitably, fights ensued at the Lori Wilson Dog Park in Cocoa Beach twice. Each time, a pit-bull mix latched onto my small dogs, and with it's strong, relentless grip, the dog wound up biting holes into my schnauzer's head. The collie who looks after his small brother, also gets into the mix to protect him, which is what a pack does. I can't say pits should not go there, but I don't find it a coincidence that this happened twice with a pit, especially since I had been taking my dogs to parks in NC and Calif and nothing like this has ever happened before. I do believe there should be some regulation at Lori Wilson because there are none, even if just to check that a dog has his licenses up-to-date.

in the years I have been taking my dogs to dog parks, nothing like this has ever happened as it has at Lori Wilson and others like it. I really want to take my dogs out and exercise, meet other nice dogs and be out in the sun, not just sit in their condo day and night. I'm at a loss!

Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach is totally NOT dog-friendly, despite that they have several hotels that take dogs. My dogs spend way too much time trapped indoors, and I cannot afford to move. I was lucky to have bought a condo where more than one dog could live in it, which now only means there are two dogs trapped inside.

I would love to take them to the beach and let them run until their heart's content. I'm extremely responsible and ALWAYS pick-up after them, and even pick-up after other's people's dogs from dog owners who were not responsible. I don't mind.

If anyone knows of a place where I can take my two dogs, even if it is an hour away, I'd really like to know about it. They are my friends, I love going on outings with them. If there is a hiking trials, a small lagoon or on the river, please let me know. Thank you all dog-lovers!

Red face No dogs allowed on beach in all of Brevard county including Cocoa Beach

I think there is one beach in Melbourne, restricted area, and dogs must be on a leash.

As for no signs, that is not true. It has always been posted NO ANIMALS ON BEACH at all the public access points.

Take your dog to a lake or along the rivers. The beach is off-limits and you will be fined. I learned the hard way.

Actually this is beach-side on A1A not US1, US1 is on the mainland. You are correct though it is at the end of Eau Gallie Blvd and the Friendlies and Walmart are across the street.
