Hi

I hope I can get an answer for this.

I am planning at this point on moving to the Space Coast Area because of a variety of reasons.

The only thing I am worried about is that I have Moderate Asthma even though I am in excellent shape. I run about 20 miles a week but I am affected by environment i am in.

I am wondering from other Asthma sufferers that take like flovent or are on at least a daily medication what their Asthma is like being near the Space Coast? Titusville, Cocoa, Melbourne those areas.

Considering the level of care that is available in FLA at least in south florida it worries me a bit from when I lived a short time in Ft Lauderdale. My asthma was better there than it was where i grew up in Wisconsin but thats not saying anything since the upper midwest is the worst for it.

Any opinions at all would be very much appreciated.

Thank you very much Ashley

I grew up in the northern states I had no asthma symptoms when I moved down here to Space Coast a year ago I came down with life-threatening asthma from the month of April all the way through all the way until the end of September and ongoing i still have severe life threatening asthma I am planning a vacation to see if my asthma clears up so I can conclude whether or not it is in the environment btw I'm now on the nebulizer albuterol sulfate ipratropium bromide also advair quvar steroid inhalers and rescue inhalers

My stepson was very prone to asthma as a kid growing up in Brooklyn and then Long Island in NY. He had various nebulizers and other steroid type medications to help when he would have frequent attacks. At age 11 he moved to Mims in Florida and at 17 now, I can't remember him needing any of the meds. It all magically went away. So from our point of view, he either grew out of it or the southern climate was better for him. Hope this helps.

I've been asthmatic since I was a child, I live in Toronto Canada I was worried about spending time in Florida due to the extra humidity and such. Maybe it's just in my mind, but when I'm in Florida I use less than half dosages of my inhalers! I've been there in all seasons and always feel great.

When I am near the ocean, especially the Atlantic coast, my breathing is much better than it is here in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Ihave from some of the natural herbal pushing people that many breathing issues get cleared up by living closer to salt water bodies of water. They sell those salt crystal ionizers that light up a golden orange to mimic the ocean air. I have not tried them myself, but they are out there.

Asthma is usually better with humidity and sea air. I may have a touch of it and an expert in pulmonary issues indicated this is the case. Now allergy's could aggravate it.

Sinus issues also tend to be less of an issue near ocean water. But it really is person dependent. I think anywhere the air is cleaner, will help with breathing issues. Ocean water areas tend to be cleaner with fresher air.
