We are looking for a single family rental, and I need a safe neighborhood. Schools aren't a factor for now.

TIA

Look at Cocoa Beach and Rockledge. Even Viera is not that far from Cocoa.

Just avoid anywhere in the Clearlake area and on the north side of Rockledge. Canaveral Groves is a nice, safe community. Also, the houses around Friday Rd. and the ones behind Juni Rios park.

Viera is okay, I guess, but it's entirely a cookie cutter community with no character or charm. Just the same concrete block houses with small yards and no room between each house.

You really can't go wrong with any of the schools in Brevard except for places like Endeavor Elementary or Cocoa High. haha

Cocoa has always basically been the place where you took the piece that broke off your double-wide to get fixed, or to buy a replacement part for your washing machine. With the exception of the immediate downtown area and north of downtown along the river, the town has basically become the slum of Brevard County. Rockledge is somewhat better, but you have to live near the river or head southwest of town to get into newer areas which are, of course, cookie-cutter. With the imminent layoffs at the space center, rental rates should be very good in the coming months, particularly in North and Central Brevard.
