I do this often - about an hour. Watch the cops on I-95, they will ticket if you go over 80 !
Sometimes I take FL 520 to save a few miles and get a different view. It joins up with I-95 near Cocoa.

Great Thread! My wife and I are heading to Florida in May to scout out areas for a possible move. We now live in Mass and are in our early 50s so employment is a concern. We plan on visiting the Melbourne area and also Orlando on our first trip down. We have no kids and are OK financially but still need to work. It is sometimes hard to sift through some of the negative posts about the crime ect. We live in an area now that varies from one end of town to another so I understand not all neighborhoods are good. What pricing would we be looking at the find a home in a "decent " area? I'm thinking 3 bedroom, 1600 to 1900 sqft and a garage 2 stall? Fishing is our main hobby but looks like there are plenty of places for that.

funNsun, how close do you need to be to the water? The reason I ask is that some Brevard County relatives are planning to relocate to be closer to their children and will be putting their 3/2 late Sixties house on the market. We have stayed there several times and have found the location reasonable: a 12-minute drive from Canova Park (which has a great beach) and no more than that to just about any amenity we have needed. I am not an expert on Melbourne neighborhoods, but I am a walker and always felt perfectly safe in their area. PM me if you want more information.
