Lumping these topics together here isn't smart, because Buddhism doesn't benefit, and those into the vegan way will be in a completely different part of the forum, i.e. //www.city-data.com/forum/vegetarian-vegan-food/ Otherwise, they'll be hanging out on the Philosophy forum.

Placed here, it is a dead-end, as we clearly see in all the comments and the topic going nowhere, now five pages deep.

a) You're not a moderator
b) Vegans are NOT welcome in that forum you cited

But most importantly, the OP was about Thich Nhat Hanh, about whom not much has been said, even though he is a very significant figure in contemporary Buddhism. And a vegan, and an activist.

Henry David you ain't.

The Philosphy forum is probably best. The vegetarian/vegan forum is supposed to be about food. Sometimes discussions re animal rights do break out there and get heated, but they are quickly squashed, and I think the butcher who likes to pop his head in there and make the predictable stupid comments was told to knock it off.

Vegans are not welcome on the Vegetarian and Vegan Food forum?!? Or are you saying vegans aren't welcome on the Philosophy forum? Either way, there's no way that could be true. For the record, that's what you've indicated before us all.

You cited the veg food forum. You did not cite the Philosophy forum, that was MQ.

Has everyone lost their minds today?

No mam. I cited the Philosophy forum in post #42. Look at the last sentence of the first paragraph. It's also copied in MQ's post #44, and why she commented on it. But you seem to not read people's posts in entirety, and feverishly rush to judgement and comment.

Losing minds today? Indeed, a very good question...

Oh, but you're not judgemental at all??

But you're partially right. I don't read posts from everyone, just the ones from posters who are kind, mature and thoughtful. Those who are not hiding behind anonymous personas and who appear to take care not to hurt others. I avoid reading posts when they're consistently mean and negative. Saves time and is emotionally more healthy.

So no, I hadn't read your post. Gossips, sneaky and arrogant, all those negatives posters exhibit--it would be masochistic to continue reading them.

If you cared about Buddhism, you would discuss the activism of Thich Nhat Hanh. That is the topic, not whether you are offended by someone questioning the suffering caused by your eating habits. Yesterday was World Vegan Day. Nobody on CD, that I could see, even noticed.

Actually, you read my posts, and you often respond in anger over them. So that's not quite true.

As to "caring about Buddhism", you don't appear to. You've never claimed to be a Buddhist, and you don't list it as your "world view" on your profile here. Have you become a Buddhist? If so, which branch of Buddhism? What aspects of Buddhism do you personally participate in.

You appear to care about your personal social causes, and -- at best -- Western Buddhism which is very, very, very different than the Buddhism present in India and Southeast Asia.

As to Thich Nhat Hanh, if you want to talk about him, in terms of his activism, internationally he is somewhat of an outlier in the community of Buddhist monks. It doesn't mean he's unwise, and in fact, I've read and like a couple of his books (particularly "Living Buddha, Living Christ").

One of the reasons that no one has brought up World Vegan Day here is that that is not a religious or spiritual holiday.

No. It's really not that it's "not true," it's more that I never considered you in the category of don't-read-because-it's-just-too-depressing. Why you think you belong in that category is just another piece of this comedy of errors.
