I saw this animal in East Amherst in the middle of July. Anyone know? I have been so curious! I have ruled out groundhog due to the fact that I see them just about everyday because I live right next to the canal in The City of Tonawanda. It's not a raccoon or an opossum. Hmmm. HELP!?!?!

I don't recognize it, sorry. Here in TX we have chupacabra sightings so maybe they are migrating north.

Someone else from Texas also told me that. I have never even heard of that thing until today. Guess I'll just have to wait and see if anyone knows.

Very mangy coyote following the creek, perhaps or a nasty mangy dog. don't kid yourself -- we have a coyote that is mangy and looks like a gray fox. you can't tell with this animal; it has no tail visible. There are tons around and a group out in the southtowns wants to "save them".

My first thought was a mutant/odd colored badger but a mink certainly matches the color & if its living in a residential area it could account for it being well fed/bigger than normal.
