Can anyone tell me anything about the safety and maintenance of the Grand Island bridges in the winter? Specifically the southern bridge, in terms of commuting over it daily for work.
I used to commute to Niagara Falls from the southtowns every day, and took both bridges. I've never had a problem, but you had to make sure to hit it at a certain time, because traffic backups on the bridge are pretty common around rush hours.
Both bridges are currently ripped up, they have been for the entire summer and fall. I just drove it yesterday, it seems like they are completing their service of the bridges for winter. I expect them to lay down new road surface soon. It should be a much smoother ride than previous years.
