Pizza Junction is considered a great place in WNY because they cake on the extra cheese and toppings. Also, they mix blue cheese with the mozzarella as well. It's a bit pricier than other places but I guess you get what you pay for. I prefer the NY Style myself but I am in the minority here.
DDD's also has featured Grovers and Lake Effect Diner. Grover's has the best burgers in town and have an excellent fish fry too. It's out on Transit Road Just south of North French Rd. Three things to keep in mind. It's small so be prepared to wait to be seated. Secondly, it's cash only (no debit or credit). Thirdly, it's closed sundays.
Never been to Lake Effect. It was built right there on Main near Winspear long after I was a UB student.I've heard some overrated comments from locals in describing the place. However, have no firsthand experience eating there.

The coolest thing about Grover's is that it used to be Grover Cleveland's hunting shack. Hence the name.

Grovers not bad. Didnt care for the burger. Did like the cheap spaghetti night on Tuesday (I think). Good pasta and meat-a ball for the boy. Bar is small in there. Wait is long.
Go across the street to Razzines. Better burger, still small bar, but an outdoor patio. And the best clams casino.
But back to Pizza Junction, I had the Beef on Weck pizza and thought that wa tasteee.
Never been to Razzines so I may have to check that out while I'm still a resident here. People have raved about nearby Chester's and their steak and chicken finger subs too.
As far as Grover's goes. Gotta love their Cheeseburger Soup served everyday. Their burgers are big so the soup is a great Plan B. Usually get the soup with Fish Fry when I go there once a month personally.

Is McPartland's still around? Dad loved their fish fry.
can't beat Chefs...end of story.
Blue cheese has no business being on a pizza. Fieri is a wise ass dolt.
