My fiance and I were looking at getting married in Buffalo, specifically we were thinking about paying for the City Clerk to perform the ceremony and rent a room at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens. Does anybody here know anything about weddings at the Botanical Gardens? I went to the website and emailed the woman in charge of rentals, but wanted some personal opinions as well.

We also will need to stay in a hotel for 3 nights while up in Buffalo. Preferably a nice hotel, but on a little bit of a budget. Trying to avoid $200+ a night suites but also don't want $40 a night run downs.

The Botanical Gardens usually do weddings in a long, somewhat narrow space in one of the wings of the complex. The room is decorated around the perimeter with seasonal flowers and plants instead of the middle being filled with plants like the other rooms are.

I love the Botanical Gardens. It's always balmy and smells of good earth and flowers. It could be the most relaxing place to be in the city, especially in the middle of winter.

I would recommend these hotels (all of these are downtown on Delaware Avenue and I think you can get rooms for under $200 a night at all of them):

The Mansion on Delaware
The Embassy Suites
The Hampton Inn

I'm not sure when it will be ready but the Hotel Lafayette will be a beautiful place for a wedding (with a floor of hotel rooms directly above the reception space) once the renovations are complete:

If you are willing to drive just a wee bit, about 15mins from Buffalo off on Transit Road in the same area as the Regal IMAX is a Motel 6 very clean, nice service and only about $60 for the night

The mansion seems a bit out of our budget, their site lists rooms ranging from $250-$450 a night.

We have started looking at the Homewood Suites in Amherst. Doesn't seem too far away and looks really nice for about $150 a night.
