First, I never intended to insult anyone. I simply thought it was a unique situation. It's not one I am too familiar with.
Secondly, again I don't mean to offend anyone, but what does someone who stays at home (with no job/kids) do all day? I am unemployed right now, in the process of trying to find a job and I am going crazy being home with nothing to do.

that's different though. You are in between jobs, probably sending out resumes and feeling somewhat guilty about not being at work. In that frame of mind you'll never make the most of your free time. If you were committed to not working you would start investing more time in your hobbies. There's loads you can do, start a blog, lift weights, read books, garden, cook, paint, pickle vegetables, take pictures, go hiking, take naps...
Yeah, I think "stay at home" doesn't necessarily mean "do nothing". There are plenty of things to do. Learn an instrument, study quantum physics, speak another language, I mean seriously...Or how about the myriad things there are to do simply in maintaining a household...anyhow.
You can live almost anywhere in Buffalo or its suburbs for that, hell you could make $45,000 and live in a 4bd 1800 sq ft colonial in a subdivision in Grand Island for that, I did.
Yes. I'm single and I make about that much. It is enough to own a small home, or rent and bank a ton of money. I'm currently doing the latter.
Nice! Low debt? Car payments?
