Keep in mind that the tax RATES are some of the highest due to home prices being much lower on average in many of those counties. For example, taxes in many Texas counties are roughly the same as they are up here. Then, if you look at a COL calculator, the overall COL in much of Upstate NY is on par with many, if not most Southern metros. So, there are many aspects in terms of costs.
