Its the first time I ever heard of it in over 40 years. Usually some fool hits a pole and takes out electric . This time, it was not the wether or an accident. How pathetic.... It was on YNN (Time Warner Channel 9). You can look up YNN on the internet as well
As easy as it is to point fingers / blame, from what I understand the individual in question is mentally ill. But that begs a bigger question, if he was mentally ill and needs help, how does he get hold of a chainsaw??
He was arraigned yesterday.he's 43 and his brother said he passes these tests whenever they put him in a facility and then they release him..guess he lives at home with his family...his brother sounded very frustrated..
Are you going to run the entire house? Consider one of the automatic gas generators; a few people here have them [ Generac ] Very pricy, but they go on automatically and use your natural gas.
If you want a small gasoline generator, go somewhere like Tractor Supply and ask what size you need. (They know what they are talking about -- big box and hardware stores might not) Our house is about 1/3 the size of yours and we use a small gasoline generator -- but we had our electric panel rewired by an electrician so we can shut off the street electric and go on generator power alone ( so you will not blow the street elec. when it comes back on). We shut all elec off, turn off street power, plug in the generator and only turn on the sump, fridge and heat. We also do not do it unless the outage is to where the sump is filled ( but we also have a backup pump on that in case we are not home) or it is over 4 hours. When you have it on, the house can be heated to toasty warm, the fridge gets cold and the sump drains. For us, that was 30 min about 4-6X/day during the Oct. Surprise.
If you want everything to run all the time in every power out? Look into the things like Generac . I only see that one brand here. I would call National Fuel and ask about the whole house gas emergency generators.
