Buffalo hurts itself...examples are: bars open until 4am...breeds a terrible society and also attracts lower class people from other areas who get sucked into the life of going out and drugs...

Do you consider New Orleans, Las Vegas, Memphis TN and Miami terrible, low class places? All have bars open 24 hours a day...
Hell, New Orleans has DRIVE THRU BARS...not liquor stores...Bars.

All four are some of the most visited tourist cities in the country, and just like Buffalo, are filled wih artists, independent local restaurants, and many high class people.

The bars are not a problem, they are much less problematic than other cities I have lived in.

sales tax at 8.75 where the rest of upstate is at 8 percent...over government spending and over taxing..theres just no way buffalo can grow even though buffalo is in a great location..near toronto, niagara falls, cleveland, pittsburgh, rochester, syracuse

This is a problem, high sales tax + income tax = slow growth.

in 1970 the 8 counties of WNY had a population of 1,684,000 as of 2010 they had a population of 1,544,794. I used these 8 counties because 1) they are the counties that make up the Diocese of Buffalo and 2) they along with McKean and Potter counties in PA make up the Buffalo market according to the AC Nielson company. In short those 8 plus the two in PA make up the official Buffalo DMA.

Thus the total WNY population loss was 8.2% over the past 40 years with 71% of that loss occuring before 1990

DMA= Designated Market Area

All the cities you just mentioned are tourists cities. In other words, they barley have businesses and companies, mainly they have retail, hotels, condos, bars, and nightclubs. Plus, New Orleans lost more than Buffalo and has had and still has one of the highest crime rates in America. Same with Memphis, Miami, Las Vegas...They all have extremely high crime rates. No offense but that just made you sound really stupid. When people mention Vegas, people think of casinos and prostitutes. When people mention Memphis, people think of the 99 percent high school pregnancy rate in some schools. When people mention Miami, people think of the beach, girls, and cocaine. I mean I don't know anyone who says theyre going to Vegas or Miami and get a legitimate job opportunity. Those cities are nothing but corrupt and unmanageable. Look at Boston; bars close at 2 am. Breeds classy educated people; meanwhile they're adding thousands and thousands of jobs each year.

Good one; if that is your way of justifying that Buffalo isn't a miserable city and is any better than Boston, then you're just oblivious to the rest of the world. I speak facts; numbers say everything. You speak hearsay.

99% high school pregnancy rate in Memphis is a fact? I'd love to see that link LMFAO

All I can tell you is my family is not miserable & in fact we are much happier here than we were in Austin. We love winter (though the lack of snow right now sucks), don't have to deal with oppressive summer heat, have better jobs, fewer bills & more free cash ... what reason is there to be miserable? I'm also doing much better than my brother, who happens to be in Boston and has to rent out a bedroom in a house with a bunch of guys he doesn't know for the same price that you can rent a nice 2-3 bedroom house for in Buffalo metro ........ lot of good that Penn State degree is doing for him in good old classy Beantown when he can't afford to go out & do jack.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47EOAs9NvEA...90 girls...my bad....I'm pretty sure Austin ranks almost in the top of everything that is good about that city. You're one of few who found a better job in Buffalo than in Austin. Also, your brother is struggling because A.) he hasn't been working for long B.) hasn't looked for a better job...clearly he's living in Boston for a reason, and that is because he has a job. Or else he would probably be in Buffalo....lol...Obviously

ouch.
Well Toledo and Flint are alot worse than Buffalo. Austin seems like a place where everyone has an unlimited trust fund and can work part time with the exception of doctors, lawyers, and academics.
I liked Austin, but that heat is beyond belief and last summer it nearly burst into flames.
Boston is too expensive for words. I have a job offer there but would starve based on the pay so believe it or not, I am probably going to take a position in...drumroll please...Buffalo.
I will probably be spending a fair amount of my time in Toronto though. Yippee!
At least in the winter you can add layers in Buffalo -whereas in the summer in Austin, you are tempted to peel off your dermis.

Austin was a great city, especially when I was younger & didn't have any family/responsibilities but once we had a few kids & started paying attention to public schooling it quickly became a horrifying place. I'd put most of our public schools in suburban Buffalo up against any of the schools in Texas & the NY public schools would come out ahead the majority of the time. Sure there are good districts to be found but unless you can afford to live in a McMansion you're probably not going to be able to live in the district. Don't even get me started about the heat .... 100+ degrees from memorial day until late September or even October ...... 80's & high humidity at night. Our winter heating bill in NY is a fraction of what our electric bill (A/C) was in Texas from may until October.

My brother has been in Boston for about a years & a half. He doesn't live there because of the job as he really doesn't like his job & has been trying to find a new one since mid Fall. Its also not a case of Boston being a place where he has to live to get the most out of his field as he can get a similar job with similar in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo or any number of other cities with a much lower cost of living than Boston. The only reason he is there is to be near his girlfriend who is going to grad school, given a choice he'd just as soon be back in Baltimore/DC (an equally expensive area but its where we grew up).
