They have emphatically stated they are not increasing the store count in Upstate NY last month when presented with a 10,000 signature position from Locport residents. Why on earth would they build a store in tiny EA when they are concentrating on the Boston and DC markets now? That would be a total waste of their capital

Lol yea they are gonna scrap their DC and Boston plans for 6,000 population East Aurora. Ain't gonna happen and they said it won't, case closed. Now Aldi or Save A Lot may open in EA as they are adding stores in small village upstate communities

I am in East Autora on an almost daily basis. It is a cute small village that will never ever have a Wegmans.

I want to say years back Wegmans did want to build in EA, but it was blocked in favor of allowing Tops to expand to the larger store that exists today.

In any event, except for the sale items, the EA Tops has awful pricing.

It is quite possible that this did occur in years gone by. But the fact is that they have stated they are going to build no more stores in upstate NY and are concentrating on new stores in Virginia, Mass, and NJ.

The idea of a Wegmans in EA is now a non-starter. Put it this way if they said no to a community of 50,000 (Lockport) with a 10,000 person petition asking them to come do you really think they are going to put a store in a tiny village of only 6,000?

Wegmans is definetly working it's way down the 95 corridor. I anticipate it here in Richmond within the next few years. No rush though we don't really need it...
