Looking for the "crappiest house" in the "nicest neighborhood" type of thing. I would prefer to spend $150,000 at most but it really all depends on house and neighborhood.
Anyone want to direct me to some towns to look at on Realtor.com?
Hi bls555. My mother lives in the South Buffalo Area. Its a bit rough around the edges, but there are some gems and a lot of Irish pride (we're not Irish). Areas are South Park, Cazenovia, Abbott Road, Senca Street. Many people try to keep their lawns neat and some of the police are cracking down on the loitering on Senca, but they still say not to take walks in parks alone. I don't know the names of realtors.
i lived in south buffalo as well, you can find some nice things, although 150k in my opinion as an agent is alot to spend in that area, better off looking north, where the value would go up

awww Joanna - I hope I didnt upset you. South Buffalo was great in its day!! I just sold my family home there a month or so ago, but if she has more than 100k, then I would go into the burbs, much much better schools as well, if she needs them?!!! Joanna, where did you grow up? I grew up on Harding......do you know it??
CAugust! LOL No, I'm really fine- I don't live there, wasn't raised there and know absolutely NOTHING about property values. I know the neighborhoods north of the city are much nicer but I thought they were more pricy (thinking Amherst). I just wouldn't want to mislead our friend into thinking S. Buffalo is SOOOO much better than any other place. My bf called S. Buffalo 'the land that time forgot', but my mother has a split level cute cape cod in a fairly quiet neighborhood. Maybe if she decides to sell, we can contact you -hopefully it will be more of a sellers market by then
Oh, oops- I forgot to reply that I don't know Harding at all. I grew up in Olean and my mother moved back to Buffalo after I went to college. I'm in Rochester now and may be moving further east once I graduate.
Southtowns are beautiful, but in the snowbelt. If you like to ski, then thats the place for you, its gorgeous, I prefer Williamsville, Amherst, even Lockport
