It looks like moving towards Buffalo is my last ditch effort in the situation I am in. I lived in WNY for 25 years and although its been nice to be away, my options are now limited. SO long story short....my daughter is entering 9th grade this year and is a Special Education student. We need to move ASAP without completely rushing. We have an offer to stay with a friend but they are working on moving in the next couple months first to have more room. I need to know if schools are fairly comparable, or if I need to have some sort of push as to which direct they move (they currently live in Lackawanna but rely mostly on the public transit for work to Buffalo). They suggested assisting in private schooling, but Im unsure how it works in general let alone specifics for any area. If I need to pull her from school, I want to do it as early as possible because it will be hard enough as it is, but I want to have control (as much as possible) as to where she will be going to. If I need to continue to live in CT for many more months, I will do it of course as her well-being is of the utmost importance.

What about more diverse jobs in any area compared to others? I have not worked in 10+ years, but certainly would prefer to not work in a fast food (or food in general) establishment if I do not have to. As it is, I need to worry about my daughter and the extreme fear she has of being home alone for any length of time, and most food places are open very late.

Thanks in advance.

Oh and my friend made the comment that
"We can live from north Tonawanda to Amherst to orchard park and she can go to the same school"
Is there any truth in this? He was referring to private Im sure but he does not have any children currently in the school system, so I want to be sure I personally understand and get my own information as well. Of course I do not know how that would work if I wont have a car at first.

I lived in Lackawanna when my kids were in school and sent 1st to a private school within the city of Lackawanna and then in High School, 1 went to a private school within Buffalo and 1 went to a Private school in Hamburg. The lackawanna school district provided bussing to each school. It has been 8 years since my youngest graduated so you would need to check specifics regarding travel distance and such. I'm not sure what you meant by assisting in private schools, but there are some very good ones in the area. Again, you would have to check for any specific needs you would require. Hope this helps!
