I was just talking about it today, there are many things to do when the kids are little and young, great parks, etc. but for older teenagers and singles, I can't say the same. There is no point in being miserable and I'm not about life, just about where I live! Further, once out of college, neither plan on staying either...
What exactly do you mean by nothing to do in Buffalo? Like no night clubs, casinos, theatres, lakes, daytrips, hiking, museums, festivals, bike paths, shopping, resturants etc.?
yep your right.

Night clubs...Ha?! You mean bars!! A taste of culture is nice but even plays and museums and the BPO gets old after awhile. The hiking/bike paths and lakes are indeed great to be near (but not much good in the winter) but again, its the same thing, "been there, done that!" (Casino? Buffalo still doesn't have one nor a Bass Pro or a new bridge!) I understand your point on those matters, but now that I've done it all, I want more. This entire area seems so oppressed with like no hope for a brighter future...The job market stinks; the people are old or slow and rude; so many neighborhoods are rundown-take a close look from town to town as the outskirts are turning into the burbs (soon to meet both lakes) and the burbs are becomming the inner city. Job market isn't great either, gasoline prices soar, taxes kill, etc., etc. Eek! Guess I better go! Sorry.

Nobody is moving into Buffalo. Population continues to decline. Young people are leaving in droves.

Indeed, but the outlying areas are good. The City is poor.

Anyone who cares about Buffalo has long since left the area. It's all government employees that are left. They are sucking the taxpayers dry. The worst offenders are the PUBLIC TEACHERS who by the way send their children to PRIVATE SCHOOLS
because the schools they teach in are rotten. That goes for the suburban teachers also.

I know that there are companies that are moving back office operations to the Buffalo / Amherst area from NYC and other urban centers to reduce labor costs.

Bad for them, good for Buffalo.
Companies have been doing that for years! But after a short stay they leave Buffalo for even still cheaper labor costs in China and India!

A friend who moved here from CA about a year ago remarked the other day that he thinks that people are beginning to move into the city.
Yea yea yea!!! People have been moving in and out of Buffalo for years! The people who move to Buffalo move here temporarly to go to college or People that are denied entrance into Canada for being profiled as White Males!!!

and for the employees, they are moving into a buyers market. However, rentals appear to be going up in the "near" burbs. Being at the end ot the 3rd ring burbs and the start of country, our houses are holding stable and so are apts.
Real Estate although reasonably priced compared to the rest of the country is not that great of a buy!!! It is possible to purchase a house in the Buffalo area for $150,000 and the next year it could be worth absolutely nothing!!!

Since it is not too wise to purchase Buffalo and/or Western New York Real Estate Rents are unusually high for such an economically depressed area! Most renters are college students or Welfare-SSI Section 8 er's and butthole slackers who trash the Places and Run. Why just look at the pattern of decay pushing into Cheektowaga and Ken-Ton up Niagra Falls blvd and into the Eggertstown section of Amherst up Bailey and so forth.

I never understood why people who dont like where they live, just do not move? Its a question I have been asking myself that for years. Moving really isnt that hard a thing to do, living somewhere takes a good attitude. Like ANY city - you have the good and the bad..................the good have a good attitude or try to change whats wrong - the bad just keep complaining, yet do nothing about it.
