My husband and I recently had the pleasure to be introduced to a real gem on the West Side of Buffalo. I can't wait to go back and wanted to post about it here in case others are unfamiliar with it as I was...
The place is called the West Side Bazaar. It's a small business incubator located at 25 Grant Street. When you walk in, one of the first things you sense is a powerful positive energy that runs through the place. If you listen to the news around here, sometimes you can feel like all of the life has been sucked out of the city, but you'd never believe that if you were judging by the bazaar. This place provides affordable booths for small business owners to rent, free business mentoring, and there is some sort of micro-loan program as well. The vibe of the Bazaar is that everyone is there to succeed and to make things better for themselves and the city they live in. Most of the businesses are owned by immigrants from all over the globe, and the cultural diversity that is present there is rare and wonderful.
The Bazaar's businesses include shops offering clothing, jewelry, home decorations, food products, soaps, musical instruments, handmade crafts, and specialty gifts. The businesses are run out of a number of booths that take up most of the floorspace, and then there is also a food court that has four different restaurants that share a kitchen. You can get Ethiopian, traditional Chinese, Peruvian, and more all within a few steps. We had the combo platter from the Ethiopian restaurant and it was fantastic. Can't wait to return & try more of the food!
