Hi..,
Can someone recommend where is the good place to stay if i will work somewhere at Summer st?
good place maybe like:
- easy to buy groceries
- near good school for young child 8 years old.
- near park/ playground/ place for short relax.
- safe neighborhood.

I don't planning to buy car, so the place should be accessible by public transport.

Thanks in advance,
James

If you are near Delaware Ave, the Delaware and Colvin buses go to North Buffalo. East of Colvin along Hertel is nice . School 64 should be decent if for the age and 81 used to be.

If by Elmwood, then the Elmwood Bus. School 56 is between Delaware and Elmwood.

By Main, the Metro rail. Can't say for any school

Parochial schools an option? Nardin is good ( but pricy)

I work on Summer and live on Norwood Ave, which is very beautiful in the spring/summer with all of the gardens. I don't know about the school that serve Norwood, but Delaware Park is nearby to the north. You can get groceries at the nearby Lexington Coop or Price Rite, or Wegmans in North buffalo if you don't mind riving a few miles.

You want to research which streets are in the frederick law olmstead district there is a list floating around on the internet and that is the best public elementary school there is in buffalo. Apply to tapestry and elmwood village charter but after kindergarten its very difficult to get it. Otherwise you will be looking at privates.

The "best" elementary school is likely the one with the smallest class sizes. At this age the most important thing is to have individual attention. Olmsted 64 has relatively large classes and good test scores. If you can afford it, most privates are suitable. As far as "quality", what most people are actually referring to is how well kids do on standardized tests which is just a measure of the wealth and credentialed education levels of the parents. You want an excellent education for your child? Don't trust anyone to educate them. Make sure they understand that they are responsible for their education then it truly won't matter where they go to school.

Oftentimes with the amount of homework going home these days, it's mostly parents who are doing the teaching anyhow as there isn't sufficient time in class to do all the required test preparation. Since this is how many schools are being measured (because of a test score obsessed public), that is the primary focus of many administrators and thus that is the kind of teaching that is being rewarded. If you are interested in high test scores, you may want to consider Williamsville, Clarence, Orchard Park, Iroquois or East Aurora. People on the message board tell me that these places are quite affordable. You will have some difficulty with public transportation in some of those locations.

Good luck and keep an open mind. There's also Montessori (school 32). I know that Elmwood Village and Tapestry also cater to a wealthier clientele so they will also have better test scores.
