Buffalo metro area shows slight population loss in new Census estimate - City & Region - The Buffalo News

Oh, Oh, this is awkward for your detractors. You are correct, also, that immigrants have been pouring into Buffalo by the boatload. I've heard 8,000, maybe more.

Not just Buffalo. Here is a series about refugees in Upstate NY: Refugees weaving into upstate N.Y.'s changing economy | Innovation Trail

Again, I would keep in mind that estimates have been off in years prior to the last official census. So, it will be interesting to see what the numbers will look like in 2020.

You are correct. Estimates are estimates and are often not accurate. However, sometimes the estimates are high as well. In fact about 2 years ago Buffalo got a shock when their jobs estimates were over by about 10,000 for one year.

That is true and in terms of jobs, I've seen that get underestimated. Syracuse had that happen about a couple of years ago.

In terms of population though, many Upstate NY areas were overestimated in terms of population loss once the official 2010 numbers came out, with multiple areas showing population gains in comparison to 2000.

Also, with postings of people leaving, there are also instances of people moving back or of millennials moving to the area. So, you can find examples of people moving to the area.

Moving back to what ? to say hi to the City of Buffalo Control Board and Erie County Control Board for nearly 10 years now, and yet their is still a lack of providing basic services including public safety and no one in the government seems to care. or the highest taxes in the country, 9 times higher then the average and are going up every year. or to look at the taxpayers 750 million vacant solar panel plant or Buffalo tallest building that's 38 floors all vacant & empty. or Better yet, maybe they want to live in the US's First 3rd World City which Buffalo is resembling more and more everyday

TanLegs you sound like a broken record constantly spewing the same negativity. Since you are not here you can't see the tremendous improvement in the city. You just cite the same old taxes, control board and empty Seneca tower. Why don't you find another city to trash?

What you call negativity is reality and what your trying to call positive is fiction
The 1st WNY village to go insolvent because the shrinking tax base can no longer provide to pay for the basic service's anymore and it's on it's way to being dissolved

Who will be the next WNY Town or City to sccumb to Buffalo/Erie County Syndrome
Rumors say Cheektowaga is next in 2018 , followed by Buffalo & Lancaster unless they get massive property taxes hikes approved ASAP.

Buffalo/Erie County Syndrome coming to your town soon. Stay tune and watch the show
Current WNY's might want to sell & leave while you can, before you lose your A*$ and us former WNY's residents are buttering are popcorn
