My sister and I lived in Buffalo, NY back in 2010-2012. We are looking at moving back because it just felt like home to us. My question is what had changed since 2012? What areas are worse, are there good/bad things about the city now that we should know. We used to live in Cheektowaga, but really do not want to move there again.
Questions:
1. How has NFTA changed? Have routes changed drastically? Did they add new ones, take away old ones etc? We will be depending upon the bus system to get around. It was great when we lived there before. And yes I've gone to the web page, but that does not tell me everything and I do not remember all the routes that were there when we lived there.
2. How are the food prices? When we were there they were pretty good compared to where we are now.
3. What areas are bad to live in now? We used to ride the Genesee 24 bus all the time and did get off at Bailey & Genesee often and it really did not bother us back then. So has the area gotten worse/better? What other areas should we be aware of?
4. Are there any vegetarian or vegan restaurants there now? We became vegetarian while away.
5. Are there any mobile home parks in the city or outlaying areas such as Depew, Cheektowaga, Lockport etc that have permanent RV hookups. We may buy an RV to move and live in.
6. How has the health or medical stuff changed? What health professionals accept Medicare & Medicaid?
7. What are the major changes since 2012?
Thanks in advance folks!

Cheektowaga has changed near walden avenue heading from Harlem road into the city. Food are decent.
You mean the stretch going down Harlem to Walden? I never really went into that area too much before. We would go down Walden and go to the Galleria or parts of Harlem but not too much down Harlem to Walden.
1. I doubt the bus systems have changed- nothing much ever really changes in terms of infrastructure in Buffalo. That being said, I'm not 100% sure.
2. The food is still relatively cheap, but there are noticeably more high-end expensive places that have popped up in the city, specifically downtown.
3. In general, the areas that were bad still are bad. The east side, west side, cheektowaga border ect. still have high crime levels. Niagara Falls is still not great either. The only place that has gotten better is just west of Main street. There used to be many shady neighborhoods, but they are gentrifying.
4. Definitely not qualified to answer this, but I wouldn't doubt it with the myriad new specialty restaurants, especially in the Elmwood village.
5. In the city, I doubt any facilities like this will be available, but they certainly are out there in the suburbs. The Woodlands comes to mind in Lockport, as well as Eagle Crest in Hamburg. Not sure of their policy on RV's though.
6. Can't answer that
7. Downtown has really become more alive with the barrage of events at Canalside, but you know Buffalo. Things here tend to remain the same for a LONG time.
When you say Tonawanda, do you mean the city and/or town?
Never realized there were two. That might explain why it seemed like Tonawanda was so large lol. Either is fine I guess. We just need to be able to ride the bus to get around Buffalo and the surrounding areas.
