Your house is still there, but if you ever have a fire, it will burn to ground and it will be total lose
because of still having non manned fire stations that are still volunteer fire depts

Also if you need EMS , you getting 1960's boy scout level first aid
Buffalo doesn't get "deadly blizzards" every other year or even 6 months of snow.

What does this have to do with Grand Rapids in comparison to Buffalo economically, eventhough it gets lake effect snow, has relatively high taxes, a strong union presence(eventhough Western MI isn't as strong supposedly), etc?

Maybe if you live in the mountain's, but the other 99% of Southern CA don't have to worry
about of wild fires, Even Joplin MO got leveled with a Tornado and came back stronger and is growing

This link highlights the successful Grand Rapids and the not so successful Buffalo. The article offers the fact that Buffalo is located in upstate New York hurts business, but is that really why? It seems to me we have more than Grand rapids has.
There's really nothing to learn from the bizjournal article.

- It doesn't state the beginning and ending GMPs which would indicate the economic size of each metro area. A major factory in a smaller metro economy would be enough to raise its % change more than if that same factory were in a larger metro economy.

- It doesn't try to give any insight into why some metro economies are doing better than others. An economy based primarily on one industry will impact that economy's GMP differently if that industry is doing very well or very poorly. Economies with greater diversification won't see such a bump/decline because of what's happening in one industry.

There are a few more but you get the point. And the two above are enough to make one realize the article says little, if anything.

That doesn't have anything to do with the topic at all.

O yes is does, when you have a corrupt government and doesn't even care about public safety.
How could they care about any thing else. They raise property taxes every year and every year the public sectors workers get yearly raises. That's why there is very little to no private investment in WNY for decades and the area keeps bleeding population every single year for the last 45 years, Buffalo is already or is close to being the 1st 3rd World Country City in the US

No it doesn't and you haven't provided any form of proof in terms of public safety. Stop hijacking the thread.
