That is an old article. Since then, the rate dropped dramatically thru the end of the year. Final homicides in 2016 were 44, up 4 since 2015 (+10%). There were no homicides in December.

Slightly higher in 2016 than 2015, but still 27% LESS than 2014 (and way less than the peak of 74 in 2006).

City of Buffalo alone lost over 22,000 residents from 2006 and it now's down to 255,000 down from 277,000 in 2006.
