My friend and I are going to Buffalo this weekend to check things out and see what's in the area. I've heard mixed things about Buffalo (and when I came to this forum looking for answers I got even more mixed reviews) but I'm very open minded and I also come from a northeastern city so I don't think it'll be that much of a culture shock.
I'm aware that we're visiting during the winter months, and activities are limited. I wanted to know, what do people in Buffalo do for fun in the winter months?
My friend and I are walkers but we will have access to a car. If something's just a bit outside the city we wouldn't mind.
We're foodies and we love trying new bars, breweries and restaurants. I'd prefer small, intimate settings to packed and overcrowded hot spots though.
I'm also into art and love going to galleries but I think my friend would get bored so if anyone knows any other activities or places to checkout in downtown or the surrounding areas then we'd be down.
Too bad it wasn't last weekend, they had a 3 day festival at Canalside. There is an ice rink there but am not sure if it'll be open cause the temps are supposed to be in the mid-upper 50s
Lots of museums/galleries. Parks to walk around.
You could go to the zoo.
The Broadway show "42nd Street" will be at Shea's PAC
You could check out the local Artvoice paper - may list some items
The tv station websites have links to "local what to do", like wgrz or wivb

Didn't the southtowns just get a couple feet of snow? Has it all melted?
Judging from my car thermometer, it got as high as 63 degrees today. I was actually in the southtowns today myself, taking my car in for a repair in Hamburg and then joining some family in OP for a walk in Chestnut Ridge Park...felt like April. People were out in T-shirts and shorts as I still sported my typical winter attire of sweater, leather jacket, knit hat, heh. There was one residual snowpile to be seen in the parking lot of Chestnut Ridge, just barely clinging to existence....
