That's a nice complex--I played there myself over the summer. The only downside is the smoke that can waft over from the factories to the west.
They'd have to add bleachers on the other side (behind the players' benches) and behind the goals, but otherwise, I don't see why that couldn't work. Better than asking for public money, which is listed in this article as an option

^Does it have enough room to add more seats to hold at least 10,000 people? That is a part of the deal in terms of getting the team.

Today's all the professional scoccer teams are building new soccer stadiums with enterainment retail districts that the leagues owners share in the revenue. to get a soccer team in Buffalo they have to build a new soccer stadium & development but the studies say the Buffalo market can't even support a New NFL Stadium or a even a rebuilt stadium to today's NFLstandards because of WNY' poor economy & shrinking market check out Austin, Portland , San Diego, Sacramento etc..... new soccer stadiums

I saw in the initial article that the ownership group was considering 4 different sites for the field/stadium, which led me to conclude that they probably wouldn't use the Elk St. field. But I agree with bmd that it would work if needed.

Given the article I initially saw, I think written by my friend and former soccer teammate Ben Tsujimoto who covers soccer for BN online, MLS is supposed to have something like 30 or 32 teams in a couple years, then this league which would include Buffalo's expansion franchise would be Triple-A equivalent and have a ton of teams, then the next level down...you get the idea. They're structuring it like professional baseball. Problem is, baseball at least once was the 'national pastime'. Lots of dudes played baseball back in the 1980s and 1990s. Much as I love soccer, being a 33-year-old who's always considered it his favorite sport and who's played it from cradle to hopeful grave, it's nowhere near 'peak baseball' in terms of popularity. I'm not sure if the economic model envisioned here makes sense--I assume it at least can make sense, but I could also imagine this going the way of say Arena league football--anyone else remember the Buffalo Destroyers?
