Time, I suspect, is the least negotiable of the Amazon requirements.

A site that requires an extended completion time will have a much greater effect on their operations than initial cost savings or incentives. A complex location (terrain, brownfield mitigation, lack of services, etc) can extend construction time. Additional delays can be due to any number of reasons - insufficient or unavailable work force, needs to have additional prep work or infrastructure (which has its own potential for delay), delays due to pending permits or litigation, plus the usual unanticipated design or construction issues etc. are others. Because of winter weather, a few weeks delay in one area can delay the whole project an entire building season, which affects other distribution centers, logistics, etc.

The Riverbend site required some extraordinary efforts by the state meet contractually required readiness dates - some of those efforts were later deemed to be illegal - but it has been shown to be very difficult to construct things quickly in this area. Very few local contractors have the people or the experience to successfully complete large scale projects quickly. That was some of the logic that drove the "preferred" contractor selection - there were only a couple of contractors who were even thought to be capable of completing Riverbend on time.
This sounds about right, as the timing of the development was probably thrown off. Let alone the question about manpower.

I will say in regards to the height requirement, the Clay site appears to be about 5 floors up and the initial steel structure is up already. https://cnycentral.com/news/local/se...ehouse-in-clay

So, this can give some insight to what the Grand Island site would have looked like.

Looks like they will wind up with the 5th largest warehouse in the world. It will be the same size as Amazon's except only 1 story. Lets see how this plays out.

It's going to be 1/4 the size of the Amazon proposal, but slightly larger footprint. I also believe they were talking about the 3.8 million sq ft building when saying it was 5th largest. A one million sq ft building is large, but no where near the largest. Not uncommon at all.

Some are behind a paywall for some or actually have to be read that day or 2. Some have corresponding segments or articles from other outlets. Just like when you would post Buffalo News articles that I couldn’t read, no point in crying or forming another thread about it. Just find another outlet that may have information on the topic. That’s all.

Sometimes its as simple as clearing your cache and getting your "free" articles again, or to stop loading the page before it fully loads, which freezes the article before it disappears again. Or, pay a few dollars to support your local newspapers. Right now the News has a subscription special, 5 months of the News for $1, or a whole year for $49 for the first year, with access to archives and expanded articles and coverage which includes full articles picked up from larger papers like NY Times, etc. along with some of most extensive sports coverage online about state and local sports.

That's exactly what I did, post a link to the same information that was not behind a paywall. I haven't posted a Buffalo News link in a long time. Not sure why you are making such a big deal about it.

This thread is about the Amazon facility, period. Not about access to various paywall protected websites.
