The entire point of the thread was that there was another levy on top of the already crushing tax burden. As usual the thread was hijacked and a big deal was made about the tax being paid by visitors. What about NYS heading off a fiscal cliff?

Again, the levy is on the people renting the Air BnB not Erie County residents as a whole. Basically, it is a county Air BnB occupancy tax versus being a tax that Erie County residents have to pay as a whole. This is a tax that is paid in basically every state or in many municipalities, regardless of the state budget.

Again, you have already stated this numerous times, no reason to keep repeating it.
You aren't clarifying a point. Since I started the thread, I know what the original point was. It was that another levy was being added to the already crushing tax burden, period. You decided to hijack the thread to go an about the taxes being paid for by visitors and that other areas have the same tax and have had it for some time. This is why I had this bolded headline.
Breaking News!!!!
A new tax in NYS, what a surprise:
You have made your point numerous times about the visitors paying the tax and other areas already having it and there is no point in continuing this further.

The tax isn't adding to a crushing tax burden for locals, unless they choose to stay in an Air BnB. Taxes for locals aren't going up at all.

Exactly...I don't think he even knows what the topic is really about or this is another attempt to use this to push an agenda. It isn't even a NYS tax, but it is an Erie County tax on those that rent an Air BnB. Hence the clarification, as it doesn't have anything to do with NYS taxes or the tax burden. It is no different than the Hotel occupancy tax that is very common across the country, but just for Air BnB's in this case. Plus it is at a lower rate than most other places that have this occupancy tax.
I know you understand this, but I think the thread is being conflated to make this seem like it is about the NYS tax burden, when it isn't. If the agenda by the OP is to illustrate the NYS tax burden, this isn't the topic to illustrate that.
I have asked a mod to lock this thread. It started out by me making a joke and now its 28 posts long. I have nothing else to add.
