Niagara Falls NY is closing 3 schools...and still in debt. They said on the NEWS that some 50 plus teachers will be out of work...that the area has lost like 30% of its population in the past several years. Just a heads up for those of you who are looking to relocate or teachers looking for work...this is not uncommon right now in Upstate/Western New York...unfortunately!

This makes me nervous. My wife is a special ed. teacher and I'm looking to relocate to Syracuse this summer. I have a job there already, but she'll need to find a job. Is this prevalent in Syracuse too? Is there a demand for special ed. teachers in Syracuse?

^ Only Catholic schools. A couple years ago they closed a few Catholic schools. I don't foresee many public schools closing around Syracuse. Over the years, they have been closing down schools in the city as needed. The Buffalo area has lost over 200,000 people since it's peak population. The Syracuse area has only lost 20,000 people. That's a big difference. I believe Liverpool just consolidated two schools. The Syracuse city schools are undergoing a $600 million renovation plan.

They closed down Lasalle High School and the original Niagara Falls high and combined them.

Now I heard that Niagara middle is closing and 60th street is closing
