Grand Island is a nice place to live - it secluded though, in order to get to larger shopping areas or malls you need to get off the island and you pay a toll each time you do that.
Higher taxes than some other communities. There isn't too much shopping or entertainment on the island, you would have to drive over the bridge to satisfy that.
North of the island is Niagara Falls, Lewiston, and Canada...
My only problem is the getting on and off GI. I hate the bridges. I especially hate the bridges in winter when icy or when they shut it down to paint one, usually each way. Otherwise, it is a nice place. If you want malls and things like that, they don't have big ones. Houses go from so-so to wonderful. Have friends with an old house on River Rd ( looking on the Tonawanda side) which is really so-so, but the river is fabulous. It all depends on what you want. I wouldn't mind living there if I didn't need to commute off the island. Also, Beaver Island State park is really nice.
thanks alot for this info! Yeah i didn't clearly state what kind of info but this is good enough...! I will need to get off island many times due to work.. and it sounds like a hassle so im sctrching living there!
