I am a liberal democrat (out spoken for those less fortunate) while I have a friend who is conservative republican and during the Vice President debate tonight I had a thought about how much all of the candidates are only speaking of "the middle class" survival in this country, I asked what about the low-income families. He mentioned HEAP, medicaid and other services that aid in the poor.

Then I thought more after our limited conversation so I share it here, yes, there are services aimed for "the poor" (NYS is "giving" in that respect), yet I wonder more for the working class who make too much to qualify for government aid, but still find it hard to make ends meet living for paycheck to paycheck. Thus titled: the working class poor.

The city of Buffalo has been given the title: "2nd poorest city" so I wondered more, when the candidates for both President and VP talk about job creation, reform and middle class, why the senators running for TOP OFFICE would vote in favor of a piece of legislation to the largest form of corporate welfare known to date. We know life is a circus, but not always can the clowns make us smile. Upon the $700 billion voted "aye" yesterday there's an additional $110 billion in tax breaks attached.... none of which will actually help the poor living in my city, or any smaller city in America.

As I step off my soap box, I can't help but to wonder what the politicians who refer to "Main Street" mean, What can they do for Main Street in Buffalo, NY, what can they do for the poor by bailing out corporations that will return to making money and the low income families are taxed more to make the resolutions of this "crisis" as the future sets like a beautiful sun? As according to the media shine.

Victory for Wall Street, taxpayers spent forever. They can be funny & cool with lines while on the campaign trail..... but for the rest of us, this is "debt" as we know it.

Haven't you ever noticed that the bleeding heart liberals are the ones who fund the socialism which supports the poor in the poor areas of Buffalo? Or that they continue to get re-elected? Or that Buffalo is an extension of the Dem. political machine in the state?

If you want to complain, stay a bleeding heart. It helps the poor stay poor and your taxes high.
If you want to do something, get involved in politics to change it.

PS: Clinton and Schumer ( the senators of NY) aren't on the ballot); all the Congressman are.

I didn't begin this thread with the intent of demeaning anyone's opinions, I had hoped for the same amount of respect in any replies, as per the subject/topic.

The "bail out bill" was said to be an important piece of legislation, to help our economy, to help middle class America, to help secure jobs, to help "Main Street America", etc. When it failed in Congress, the bill went back in for some finishing touches and was re-presented to the senate with $110 billion more added on to an already $700 billion plan. Thus, the President signs the bill into law. There's nothing "bleeding heart liberal" about it the amount that taxpayers will have to pay back to this future debt. 3% of of $810 billion is a lot of taxes.
