So me and my boss today got in a heated discussion about Rochester being WNY, he says it isnt, I said it is. Moron...
As living in Buffalo for a while now I still think Rochester is just apart of WNY as Buffalo is... What about you guys?

This debate has gotten ugly on this forum in the past. But...yes, it is. It certainly isn't central New York. The "Western New York" branch of the national historical society is based out of Rochester; you always here in local commercials that so and so lawfirm, car dealership, restaurant, etc. is rated "best in Western New York", "Largest in Western New York" etc. There is only ONE county between Monroe county and Erie County, which IMO is not enough to break us up into different "regions".
Websters Dictionary also "defines" Rochester as "A city in WESTERN NEW YORK on the Genesee river and the southern shore of Lake Ontario".

Yes. Businesses put it in WNY. Write ups on geography of the state put in in WNY. The official website of WNY puts Rochester into the category.
But a couple people on the internet say it isn't, so.......

I would definitely agree with the way that map splits it up.
