Hello, has anyone had any experience with Native Offerings Farm (Community Supported Agriculture)?
What Is CSA? (http://www.nativeofferings.com/what_is_csa.htm - broken link)
They seem to have distribution centers in Buffalo, Orchard Park and Williamsville.
I would like to know if its worth it before I join.
thanks,
MS

Wow, it seems like none of the regular visitors on this forum are taking part in CSA. Well thats ok, I will ask around and see if I can get some info.

Hi there- I will be moving to the Buffalo area and know I will miss our CSA where we are. I've looked at Promised Land's (Alden) website and thank you- will also look into Native Offerings. I wonder if you head over to the Lexington Co-Op they will have some insight on the few CSAs in the area and what they offer. I think Native has a drop-off right at the Co-Op? Although I don't have much to contribute to your post, I am interested too! If I hear anything, I'll drop you a line. Keep me posted too, if you wouldn't mind! Thanks

I don't know where you are located, but here is a great one in Genesee County (near the Batavia area). http://www.porterfarms.org

Hi,

Sorry, I've been out of town and just saw your post. I participated with Native Offerings last year, just for a fruit share. It was my first experience with a CSA, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I thought it was okay. I need to learn more about preserving/freezing fruit before this summer. With only me and my two kids eating it most of the time (DH travels a lot for work), I felt like too much of my weekly share would go to waste sometimes. The people from native Offerings were very nice, and I liked the pickup area -- at the old train depot on South Long Street, just off Main. I did not do the vegetable share because I knew we wouldn't eat a lot of the stuff they were offering. A friend of mine used a different CSA for her veggies; I'll have to ask her which one, and I'll share that info on here if you would like.

HTH!

There is a CSA in East Amherst/Clarence called Root Down Farm: therootdownfarm.com... if you are looking to actually go to the farm to pick up your share and also upick. Porter farms and Native Offerings only do drop offs.
