Amherst is fine. Schools there are good and pretty much all of the districts in the town are relatively diverse too.

Gruffman,

I don't know that Amherst is very diverse, but it IS safe. And if you're looking for a little more diversity you can drive to Buffalo, and for a lot more diversity you can drive to Toronto.

good luck!

Some areas of Amherst have decent amounts of "diversity" and if you go to Sweet Home, Amherst and even Williamsville schools, you will see children of various backgrounds at those schools in varying volume.

Having grown up in a metropolitan city, I suppose the level of diversity is subjective.

Correct, but I would say that these numbers show that the schools in Amherst have enough to see it regularly, especially Amherst and Sweet Home:

Test Scores for Amherst Central School District | GreatSchools
Test Scores for Sweet Home Central School District | GreatSchools
Test Scores for Williamsville Central School District | GreatSchools
