Hi. I was curious how often the train actually goes through town. I heard they are going to run more trains. Does anyone have this info?
Or is there a website with the schedule?
We currently live near the airport in S.Burlington, but are considering moving. The house we are considering is very close the train tracks. We hear the planes now, but it doesn't bother us. Not sure about trains, since we have never lived the tracks.
Thanks for input!

Twice a day, 9AM and 9PM(roughly). I used to live near the train station, look for the burnt out husk of a building across the street. The train was very loud but it didn't last long.

Passenger service is just twice per day as Even mentioned. The big push by Amtrak is to bring in more revenue by increasing freight train use on the rail lines. The New England Central Railroad line is one of the better options because it runs from Mass (and more southern states) directly to the CN lines in Canada. Since it is only used about every twelve hours, there is ample opportunity to utilize the rail line for freight. http://www.ccmpo.us/library/freight/..._study_ch5.pdf

There are also freight trains mid morning, around 5, and a couple around 11.30pm. When I first moved near the tracks I found it a bit loud but now I never hear them. Completely blank them out.

Coming from a country where train travel is common I'd love for there to be more passenger trains, to be honest.

I estimate that our home is about 200 yards from a rail crossing. We hear it pretty good when a train passes through, which is about 3 or 4 times a day including early a.m. and late p.m. runs. Personally, I love the sound and would actually miss it if the trains no longer ran. The rumble and the blasting horn don't wake me either. I sleep with ear plugs.
