Has anyone tried this with your videos? What's been your experience with this?

Do you mean by coming an internet sensation? I have heard of a few people doing this but not sure I would want to be recognized like that.

For those not familiar monetizing youtube clips is when you allow youtube to put ads on your videos.

I think you have to have a certain number of videos uploaded before youtube will offer you this feature. You then make money when people click the ads. I'am not sure if they have to actully buy a product through the ads. Anyway, your videos must not have any copyright issues. You get paid through google adsense.

Sounds like a lot of time spent for very little return.

Are you just going to post tons of videos and stamp them ads?

AFAIK, you only get paid per click, similar to web pages.

I for one, never click on those ads, but maybe there is a particular age group that does. THat might help you drive you videos to a certain market more accurately.

I'd assume that people's success with this will vary depending on how many views their videos generate and their overall approach.

Here's a short video clip that walks through the process of setting up a monetized video.

this is basically just adsense integrated into your youtube channel. it used to be you had to become a youtube partner which was very difficult. now however almost anyone can monetize videos there may be some small cap like you hav to have 5 videos or something like that just so they dont have a million open accounts nobody has ever used but its pretty easy not days. that said earning are VERY low. I normally make a few hundred bucks a month off my adsense account however say i make like $250 a month on adsense maybe $11 of that came from youtube because they seem to pay less plus youtube takes a cut.

just doing youtube probably isn't a great strategy but if you also have blogs or website and want to integrate a channel why not. feel free to ask me any question if you have them. i hsould also mention i dont have the best videos but none the less dont earn much from them.

I've been considering also using a blog for this if I can figure out what to blog about.

Do you know which types of ads tend to get the most clicks on Youtube? I think you have a choice for what type of ads you want to use. I don't care for those ads that come at the start of a video and allow you to skip. I'am thinking too many people are just choosing to skip those ads so they can get to the video they want to see. I think those banner ads maybe better.

As for what to blog about, blog about something that you are knowledgable about and something that interests you. If you pick a topic just because you think it has high paying keywords on adsense your going to be miserable writing about a topic you don't like, you won't write as much and you won't earn as much.

What are you into? Motorcycles, instruments, music, cooking, food? Blog about that.

As for types of videos you can choose between what they call prerolls those videos that play before a video plays you generally have to watch at least 5 seconds before skipping sometimes you can't skip at all. The other type of videos is that see through overlay that goes over the very bottom of your video. You can choose to do one, the other, or both.

I would say first things first get started blogging and start a youtube video. For starters throw up some ads on your blog and monetize your channel but don't worry about the profits or advertising because there will be little of it at first. Work on your content!!!! Too many people get hung up in trying to get ranked good by search engines, layout their ads a certain way. If you have no content or content that sucks nobody will stay on your page or return visit.

Work on your content and once you have say 50 blog posts then you can start playing around with trying different ad placements on your page, trying different color schemes, etc.

As for ads. On blogs they seem very targeted. If I'm doing a review of a credit card the ads will all be related to credit cards. If I'm blogging about gold ads for goldline andother gold and silver shops will pop up. on youtube the ads don't seem very targeted ad all in my opinion.

^

Thanks for the tips.

Oh isn't their also a third option for ads? I've seen ads placed at the top right of some videos. I actually think more people would click those since they are very visible and aren't in the way of the video like those other two options
