I advertise in the Nashville Craigslist. I provide accounting and technical help with all Intuit accounting software.

It is pretty much worthless. My main problem at first were people calling thinking that since it was on Craigslist they would be able to buy my time cheap. I fixed that with a link to my website which has my pricing on it.

I still run the advertisement however I rarely get any calls from it. I just renew the one ad as it expires figuring that since it is free if I get just one real client from it I will come out ahead.

I think you would have a better chance with your own website and signing up with Google places and a free Manta account. I set up my website using the free wordpress and a hosting account. It costs me 50 dollars a year and after six months I am getting 60 hits a day on it. Most of the traffic is from people looking at my blog posts however I do get real clients from it.

People look on CL for bargins. If you are just anohter schmuk trying to sell at full retial I don't think its going to get far. If I wanted to pay full retail for anything I am not going to CL. I laugh at people who put things up for sale at full retail. LOL Get a life.

Moonshine, perhaps.

At least that's the idea I got reading L'il Abner comics when I was a kid.

The son of my close friend placed an ad on CL that he could set up, clean and maintain fishtanks. I think he was surprised when someone called and wasn't really sure what he was going to do but it had been an interest/hobby of his for over 10 years. That was over a year ago and now he has a thriving business with a part time assistant and doesn't advertise on CL anymore.

I started a niche consignment store not too long ago and have used Craigslist as one source of advertising. I included my web and blog addresses in the ad and know that folks have checked out both of my sites because of the Craigslist posting. Because of the wording of my ad, it has also upped my word search recognition on Google.

Networking with builders, remodelers, plumbers, and real estate would be more effective for you. Craigslist, that is to much of crap shoot IMO. Usually the bargain hunters start there, with results that may vary. I see where some are looking for subs there. Around here logging are the gigs that stick out to me.
