Hi guys. I have an accountant that files my monthly sales taxes. Back in October, he withdrew twice from my business account for taxes(duplicate but anount was off by pennies)I caught it and let him know and he contacted IRS for credit next month. But he did not own up to it. He just said he ll take care of it. And next month, I got the credit for tax.

Today I received a letter from IRS "review of hardship refund" telling me they cannot process refund because this credit has been applied to my account. I'm presuming that they are referring to the credit I got back for duplicate payment. I never applied for hardship refund nor did my accountant mention this to me.

Does anyone know what my accountant might be up to?

Get a new CPA and have that person check up on what the other accountant did.

Did you really meant to say "Sales tax"?

When I did sales tax forms each month for a client they were paid to the state and local authorities. If yours is paying sales tax to the IRS, you may have a bigger issue.....

I'm sorry I meant local authorities not IRS. Aka scumbags!

Well something seems weird. Have you asked your accountant what the heck is going on? How long have you been using this person? Might need to start looking for a new person..... sorry, but to file the sales tax report twice in one month is really not paying attention to the details. The fact that YOU caught it - not good.

Yeah I am in the process. I can find one but I have no idea who's good or bad.
