Hi all. Anyone knows what is the best way to put your handmade business out there? I just recently opened my craft handmade business and need my online sales to pick up.

And any feedback of what I can do would be appreciated.

Thank you

Best that I can think of is Etsy Etsy - Your place to buy and sell all things handmade, vintage, and supplies . The site is focused exactly on this type of business - craft/handmade .

etsy is good for handmade things but dont expect just to list your things and have them sell, handmade stuff is a dime a dozen on etsy, i personally find stuff on etsy to bee WAY overpriced and would never shop there. that said you need to use social media, a blog, etc to promote your etsy store. You can setup your own ecommerce site for freee or cehap and not have to pay a big chunk of sales to an etsy, amason, ebay, etc.

Yeah seems to make sense and although I don't use etsy ,have just browsed it..I can imagine that it's become like eBAY ..more saturated over the years and harder to make $...more competition..

Having your own site and having as many other 'channels' is always a good idea.

I've heard good things about Shopify...it's not free but reasonable ... cheapest is $29/month . If you are serious about business $29/mo is not much.

There are alternatives too.

Why not go the Youtube route? Show people how to do crafts? Why not list locally? Find out where the crafts fairs are being held and sell there. Give away something to someone in a high profile business who can have a conversation piece. You will get tons of business from them! Your local Chamber of Commerce is a good place to start. Find out when your town is hosting a holiday crafts fair. Check with your local library..they always have information on things like that going on; especially now, since it's the holidays!

Another great "CHEAP" Cheat tip: Come up with a great short informational note (with your website/
contact info), go to your local Staples office supply store and have it made into a stamp. Then grab some 'extra' sticky post it notes, stamp away and place them on drivers side windows at the mall! Those are people who are in the mood to buy and you might just have what they are looking for (personalized, one-of-a-kind, handmade items) at a price they can afford! Good luck!
