Yes, I know a guy that owns a business in the Seattle area but dislikes the climate and moved to San Jose, but the business remained here. Another lives in Arizona and has a business here in the Seattle area.
Well, there are plenty of people in Jersey who own businesses in NYC or Philly. And probably even people who live in Connecticut and own something in Rhode Island maybe.
i live in chicago but am moving my business down to the carolinas. im pretty much still going to live and work here but carolinas have a better business climate actually value business vs try to destroy, tax and regulate it so moving my business there cutting illinois out of state taxes for the business and leaving the headaches behind
I know of a pair of brothers that bought a franchised restaurant business in Hawaii, specifically so they could write off travel expenses while vacationing there. Yes, they are quite wealthy
Oh ok, with that type of business it would definitely be easier to 'move' it versus a place with brick and mortar. Sounds like Chicago is a pretty bad place to base a business.

That's awesome...but hopefully the businesses actually make money. It seems kind of crazy to do that specifically so you could write off travel.

I'm sure it does. This pair has been extremely successful in that particular business.
