- Did anyone see the news this week where
a Doctor's Files were froze till he paid a ransom in Bit-Coins?

And he paid it.

- Wish I could, the TV news didn't say.

They did show the video of the Doctor in his office.

Looked like one of those swanky plastic face reconstruction practices.

After he paid the ransom,
he said that now they are putting all their files on back-up drives.
Which I would've thought a practice like that would've already done.

I thought I heard him say that the amount of the ransom was $500.00.
But that seems like too low of an amount to be right.
So I'm thinking I miss heard that part.

There's a new(ish) malware floating around. "Crypto-locker" is the name, IIRC. It'll encrypt all the files on your computer until you pay a ransom.

Backups, people. Backups. If you keep your important data backed up, the most something like this will cost you is some time.
