It's interesting that everyone is using the term "home owner" as though not owning a house means you are homeless. The gentleman is a home owner. He has a home. A house is a building. It might be a home. It might house a business.
Many times a house owns you, not the other way around. It's a capital asset that ties you to a place.

I can see his point Everything you own just becomes another responsibility or something else to care for. If he is happy not owning a home, then there is no reason for him to own one. Everyone has different values.
