I think it's $6 per stamp in most places. There are a few that will charge a trip fee, if they come to you. My law office does them for free for clients and witnesses. Banks will usually do a few for free for banking customers. Title companies may do them, if you closed there.
I have never been charged in Texas. I have gone to my bank or insurance agent. I was shocked when a State Farm representative in Louisiana charged me $20 for 1 signature. My fault for not asking first. I even have 3 policies with (another) State Farm Agent. After doing a little research, I discovered that a notary public in Louisiana has NO LIMIT to what amount they can charge. (vs. Texas where the limit is $6.) I will not make that mistake again.
Does anyone know the average cost of getting documents notarized. I'm gonna need about 20 documents notarized. I heard banks do it for free. Is that true? I found some places near me but I just want to see the average cost before I go.
Yes, your bank can notarize documents for you at no charge. I have never paid for a notary.
