Along with becoming a physician, one thing that I would really like to do is start a pharmaceutical corporation. I like pharmaceuticals since my major is Biochemistry (I will soon double major in Biochemistry and Business Administration) and I have a passion for it. I plan to incorporate my business in Pennsylvania and have its headquarters in Philadelphia. Any tips on what I should do to start and grow my business to possibly get it to the multinational level? If I have enough capital available, I would possibly like to vertically integrate in order to ensure growth, assuming that there is enough capital available.

You have to have something to manufacture. That means develop something or else manufacture generics.

Then you open offices in foreign countries and hire management and salesmen and send them out to do business.

It's pretty simple, really.... except for the bit about having something to sell.

You don't start a multinational, you start a business. THAT is how you start. And then you make sure that you do well, grow at a sustainable pace and hire the right people. And after that, you might be able to go international. But begin with starting a business.

How would you do that? Either have a drug developed already, or develop one after you have started, but then you need some money until you have a drug on sale.

I disagree. Invent a drug that sells and people would fall for buying. That's how you pursue the American dream - by selling crap.

And then you have to get your drug(if you are not copying an existing OTC) and manufacturing facility approved by the FDA....which will be a very expensive proposition

Unless, of course, you have a few million to spare for lobbying.
