Whenever we started a business it need a huge capital and some mental preparation. Your started business will successful not for all the time. I have a small business on promotional pens and pencils for last 2years. I also faced too much up and downs in my business.
I'm not saying every business can be started on a shoestring budget of a couple hundred or even a couple thousand bucks. I mean if you want to get into manufacturing of anything you need some big cash. That said with 9 out of 10 small businessses failing why would anyone want to sink a bunch of money into a business that has a 90% chance of failure?
Most of my businesses have started off as side hustles or low money, low commitment things. I can kind of test the waters and see if I have some success before investing real money in.
I started my business in 2012 with $300 and I did 2.1 Million in sales last year. You don't need money to start a business you need a good idea, some hustle and some creativity.

How did you pay for inventory if your in ecommerce with $300? I don't see that being 2.1mil of sales it would be more like 600k of inventory, not to mention upfront shipping costs would easily be 20k.
One that I really wanted to open if I had a few million laying around, would be an indoor soccer place in NYC. There isn't one that is big enough for a 6v6 field that has turf. Just gyms so you're playing on a gym floor, which... sucks, and one place that has a 5v5 or 4v4 small field. I forget how big it actually is, I just know it's small.
People play soccer here like crazy, so I know in the winter months it would be a great sell, but the summer months would be a bit harder.
The second one that I would want to open is something that isn't in my area that could really be useful. A doggie day care. The area I live in is full of dogs, but no doggie daycare. Seems to be a perfect fit.
someone that you can call tell them what you are looking for for a car, and they do all the legwork, searching,,,also they can do the selling of your car, if you don't trade it in..
this person could charge 500 to 1000 for the purchase of a car ( 200.00) quarantee retainer
and set up vehicle searches,, and email over the targeted vehicles
also, this person who have hopefully, worked at a dealership....would consult with owners, and they may tell them lease options are best ,,,depending on ave. miles driven etc...
most busy people despise car shopping and searching..... I would have used this - if this was a service in our area..
someone could make some serious money.....especially with the price of vehicles today.... people would pay for this
If not having funds is a reason not to open a business you NEVER will. Watch this video Mark Cuban says you'd be an idiot to start a business with a loan and even goes on to say its almost kind of stupid to sink a bunch of money into starting. Very few businesses actually require a lot of capital to start.

It depends on what the business is. Some businesses actually do need money to start.
I've always liked the idea of opening my own business, but have never had the means to do so. Quite frankly I wouldn't even know where to start even if I did have the means to do so.
So I guess my question is, if you could open up your own business (maybe you already have) what kind of business would you open and why?
I would open my own sports memorabilia store.
Something in the car insurance industry. It's such a ripoff especially when rental vehicles and peer to peer is concerned, with so few consumer protections, I'm sure they rake in lots of dough.

Was said business legal? Because in my area it costs more than 300 just for licensing and registration costs. 300 would barely cover billing time for the CPA....

I met a few guys who are in the car insurance industry some years back. They aren't raking in millions but they live very comfortable. When I was still in touch with this insurance broker, he was making $240,000+ a year. Not bad for a guy with a high school degree and 52 hours of insurance class. Another agent I knew was making around $500,000 a year until his untimely death. Both of them were pretty young, both under 35 yrs old at that time. Met a few others over the years that were quite successful in this range but much older; but with that said, it's far and few in between, as there is a huge failure rate in this field.
