OP I would be very careful trying to build your business depending on Yelp, a year ago I was quoted a monthly advertising fee of $750 a month, when I declined the offer all of my reviews disappeared (all of which were 4 or 5 stars). There was a lawsuit about it but the ruling was against those who sued due to Yelp basically owning the rights to everything on their site, so they are legally extorting businesses.

Yeah I have heard of a some businesses being anti yelp.
In the area at least most of the places don't have many yelp reviews , so I'm not sure how many people do look on there.
There are two really bad (1 star) reviews on our profile , so I'm sure that doesn't help us. Not sure if Yelp would delete those since it was from the old management.
$750 a month sounds pretty crazy! That's terrible they removed your reviews after you declined paying the $750.
Personally I use Yelp a lot, but a lot of other people might not be the same. Even though it has been around a long time , there are a lot of people that haven't heard about it . Kind of interesting.
I wouldn't attempt to build the business depending on yelp , but I don't think it would hurt to have some good yelp reviews.
