I have the option to buy a coke vending route for $63k. It does not require anything on my part and is 100% absentee. The yearly net is around $15k. Is this a good deal?

Default ANY time something seems "too good to be true"...

...the real answer is "it probably is not true"...

There are myriad range of issues that may or may not be behind this "vending route" being a foolish use of $63,000 -- is the current location(s) stable or in flux? Are competitors entering the market? Are the vending machines themselves in good repair or nearing the end of their lifecycle? Is there an independent audit that verifies the alleged "net"? Can you really trust that the 100% absentee situation is feasible? Why is the current owner selling? What about the "servicer" -- is this some felon in a truck that you have to carry insurance for? Are you really capable of being a "boss" ? What about being able to interface with the management at the locations? Who handles that?

Too many reasons to think this is not legit...

$63,000 for the route which nets $15,000 seems a bit heavy. Having a route of any kind is not a bad "side" business to have since you can work at a regular job or have another business. A route doesn't take too much time from you. The questions posed above me by chet are spot on.

Why would you spend 63 to make 15? It would take you 5 years to just get your money back with a slight profit!
