This is a surface based analysis by the Times. The truth of the matter is that women don't reap the same societal and biological rewards from work as men do.
As I read the article, it became apparent she is a single female parent. That got me to thinking, what would a single male parent do. In the old days, he'd get married. While I agree we should have better child care in this country, maybe she should have thought about what she was going to do for childcare before she had the kid.

As I read the article, it became apparent she is a single female parent. That got me to thinking, what would a single male parent do. In the old days, he'd get married. While I agree we should have better child care in this country, maybe she should have thought about what she was going to do for childcare before she had the kid.
One thing I never get about these articles is that the average cost of daycare is over $2k a month. So why don't these women take care of one or two other kids? It's not that much more difficult than taking care of one.
When the kids are toddlers, it's easier than taking care of one, because the kids can play together, instead of Mom having to be the kid's playmate all the time.
