It's never a good idea to think you might not be audited. We've had two family members get audited specifically to prove their mileage, through the mail, and we were randomly selected for the big audit where the agent comes and sits in your business. I would expect that mileage would come under more scrutiny with all the Uber, Lyft, Amazon and food delivery drivers.

The IRS really didn't care how we kept our records as long as we had them, which we did.
